Congratulations to Brett Tonkin, who become the 61st Life Member of La Trobe University Football Club at last nights Gala Ball. Tonks provided service to our club for 9 years and was a great mentor and role model for all who came through our doors. For many years Brett has been a proud servant of our club being an example for all members to follow.

He joined the club in 2009 and quickly made the club his home. From an early stage he was offering assistance on a weekend and quickly moved to a committee position in 2011. By 2013 Brett become the club president and held this role for 4 years. He mentored his committee members and ensured they got great value from the time they spent with him.

During Tonks time as President the club was able to successfully implement the Koorie Academy of Excellence Program, which is a mentoring service for players allowing them to build their resumes and secure ongoing employment. He Implemented the Club Award, Braedon Hensel U’19s award and helped introduct the La Trobe Gala Ball. Tonks played over 100 club games and was named Team of the Decade President. Most life members would receive the Bob Segrave award prior to being awarded life membership. However, in the case of Brett Tonkin, most of his service at the club has been spent in a presidential role and his humility has meant that he would not accept this award.

Congratulations to our 61st life member, Brett Tonkin.
