We offer our sincere thanks to out-going committee members Samantha Greene, James Billings and Vanessa Lacock-Smith. Greeney served on the committee as female vice-president from 2013 to 2016, and was also the sponsorship co-ordinator in 2017. She stepped into the role of President in 2018 when the future of the Club was tenuous at best and guided the Club with great skill, commitment and hard work to a position of strength and optimism for the future! Bilbo served as male vice-president in 2018 and has been the volunteer officer during 2019-20. Ness has held the position of events co-ordinator from 2018 and among her many fantastic achievements she organised the very successful Red & Black Warriors Launch Event held in March 2020. We wish Greeney, Bilbo and Ness the very best and success for their respective personal lives and professional careers! Thank you on behalf of all Trobers!

Season 2020 has been a year like no other! For our Football Club it was to be a year of stability and growth, 12 months back home on Tony Sheehan Oval and both teams graded correctly.
Collaboration between the Club and Alumni continued to gel, and we were excited for what 2020 would hold. Events included the official launch of the Red & Black Warriors which raised over $25,000.
We successfully integrated Xero and Square to ensure Club finances would become easier to manage and reporting could be better utilised throughout the year.
In January 2020, Andrew Sutherland was named Senior Men’s Coach, which was a great acquisition for the Club. Speaking to current and past players (both old and young), many were thrilled to see Andy take hold of the reins. From a Club perspective, it was also exciting to see a strong coach who was committed to the progression of both our men’s and women’s programs.
Two pre seasons were completed, however committed numbers continue to be an issue for the Club, with a shift required to ensure player retention and acquisition is significantly improved. 2021 will remain difficult as University living may never be the same.
The highlight for the year was our rejuvenated Club Newsletter and game flashbacks from Simon Hast, these were appreciated from all over the globe. Many of us have been reliving these memories, with the exaggerated stories to go along with them! I have certainly taken the opportunity to ask Jaryd and Danger what they were possibly thinking when I was left out of votes with a big bag of goals, on multiple occasions!
In a year with limited highlights we are excited to confirm the re-appointments of both senior coaches, Andy Sutherland and Jaryd Coghill. For Andy, he will have completed his third pre-season prior to any formal season. Whilst Jaryd, will lead the women for a record fifth season.
From a personal perspective, I would like to thank all of you who have provided me with the time and opportunity to learn. There are many people behind the scenes who continue to quietly give a great deal to the Club – the Club is extremely lucky to have the support these people. I have enjoyed my time as both President and Vice President of the Club and look forward to the success the incoming committee will enjoy.
I am delighted to introduce you to your new Club president Tom Dixon, who highlights the belief that there are no outsiders at La Trobe. Although Tom has not played for La Trobe, he completed his study at the University and works for Vicsport, focusing on community sporting clubs. Tom is a great acquisition for the Club and will lead our new committee well.

I would like to thank outgoing President Sam Greene for her hard work and dedication and for putting me forward as the next President of LTUFC. I look forward to working with the committee, the alumni group, the coaches, trainers and players. While I don’t have a strong footy background from a playing perspective, I am as mad about footy as any Victorian, and in my professional life I am the Participation & Innovation Manager at the peak body for sport in Victoria – Vicsport. My main focus is setting up for a safe, fun 2021 season and developing a new strategic plan to drive the growth of the Club over the next decade. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me at
